Steffen Diemer: Hibiki | Harmony

6 May - 20 June 2025
With a past as a photojournalist and war photographer, Steffen Diemer confronts us with the transience of life and the harmony of natural elements in his fragile still lifes.

We are pleased to announce Steffen Diemer's first solo exhibition in Italy, following his success at the Mia Photo Fair in Milan last March.

On display at the gallery will be unique works created using the ancient technique of ambrotyping, one of the first photographic glass printing processes dating back to the mid-19th century.

Steffen Diemer: “The central theme of my work is the vulnerability of nature and, ultimately, of human beings. I want to touch people with my art. I want to encourage them to think about what concerns us all: the transience of what surrounds us.

I work very consistently with the over 170-year-old wet plate collodion process (ambrotype). It often takes me days to produce a single work. But this deceleration is exactly what I want. I create unique photographic works exclusively on black glass made for me.”
