New representation
Jacques PionWe are proud to announce that Jacques Pion (Suresnes, France 1962) joins the list of artist photographers represented by the Gallery with the magnificent series Intimus, 2022-2024.
After a long and successful career as a photojournalist, Jacques Pion leaves the familiar paths of reportage and embarks on an introspective journey into the meanders of the natural world, with a slow and engaging rhythm.
For several years and in all seasons, he walked through the Melogno beech forest (Maritime Alps, Italy) completing an intense autobiographical journey and bringing back a mosaic of images, a universal fresco of the natural world, a stream of poetic and precious icons. In the words of Mariateresa Cerretelli: "For me, Intimus is a mirror of an inner journey that everyone should undertake in order to meet themselves. A photographic project that seems to unconsciously indicate a path, a guide to the rediscovery of the self through the stages of a profound journey into the essence of nature."
Our selection of photographs from the series are all hand crafted and produced as unique editions. In fact, each print contains a portion of the image selected by the author and transferred to a genuine silver negative. To enhance the light and preciousness of the print, a gold leaf is inserted between the part of the photograph from which the negative was made and the negative itself.
